Council is responsible for providing the physical services of roads, water, sewerage, garbage collection, saleyards operations and airport facilities. In addition, Council provides town planning, health and building, administrative, sporting, recreational, library, public venue, regulatory, tourist information and a number of community services, such as Family Day Care, Out Of School Hours service, youth and aged services. The organisation has approximately 200 employees and a budget of $50m per annum. Hunter Councils has put together a Community Profile for all Council's within the Hunter Valley which includes results from the 2001, 1996 and 1991 Censuses of Population and Housing. Council's Code of Conduct - Published: 08 Nov 2006 The Local Government Act, 1993 {Section 440(3)} requires Council to review its Code of Conduct within 12 months after each ordinary election and make changes to it as it considers appropriate.
