When is an owner builder permit required?
Where the contract value of a project is in excess of $5,000.00, an owner builder must apply to the Department of Fair Trading for an owner builder permit. Applicants for owner builder work costing in excess of $12,000.00 will be required to complete an educational course prior to applying for an owner builder application, and approved by the Director General.
