Get clicking for Upper Hunter photo competition!Last modified: August 15, 2008 - 11:23 AM
THE spirit of the Upper Hunter is the theme of the 2008 Upper Hunter Shire Council's photography competition with entries coming steadily ahead of the closing date on 29 August. Upper Hunter Shire Council Mayor, Cr Barry Rose, said photographs could be submitted in three categories and there is a $100 prize for the winner of each category. "The idea of the photographic competition is to celebrate the spirit of the people and places within the Upper Hunter Shire," Cr Rose said. "Photographs may be used for Council publications and promotions and will assist in showcasing our Shire." "It will also be a good opportunity to see what captures the imagination of residents in our area and the images the theme ‘the spirit of the Upper Hunter Shire ‘ evokes, including the people, places and buildings they link this with," he added. Photographs will be exhibited at a presentation evening at Scone RSL Club on Thursday, 4 September from 6pm. Entry is free and up to five entries per category may be submitted by each entrant. The three categories are people, places and buildings. "The people category aims to capture individuals, families, groups or ‘people', highlighting their spirit, personality or connection with the Shire," said Cr Rose. "The places category aims to capture our natural features, celebrations, festivals and what makes the Upper Hunter a good place to be," he added. "The buildings category aims to capture the buildings, houses and landmarks that hold special significance or are a significant feature in our communities," he said.
