Input Sought From Locals For Youth Week CelebrationsLast modified: January 19, 2009 - 3:05 PM
IDEAS from young people from throughout the Upper Hunter Shire are being sought ahead of National Youth Week from March 28 to April 5. Upper Hunter Shire Council Youth Services Officer, Kylie Free, said input on activities and celebrations for Youth Week across the Shire was being sought from people aged from 12 to 17 years. "We are planning a meeting on January 27 at 3pm at Scone Youth Club to canvass ideas, but if you can't get there, email or call me and tell me your ideas," Ms Free said. "I have some ideas such as a Careers Expo and a ‘Day on the Green'-style celebration where we would have live music, kite-making, a mechanical bull and other activities as part of a fun day, but we are wanting to hear from young people in the Shire and what they would like," she said. "National Youth Week (NYW) is the largest celebration of young people in Australia and it aims to encourage young people to share ideas, have their voices heard on issues of concern to them, and have fun together," Ms Free said. The theme for NYW 2009 is ‘Make a Move'. Phone Kylie on 6540 1100 or 0417 287 50 or email kfree@upperhunter.nsw.gov.au. Visit http://www.youthweek.com/ for more information on NYW. Contact details |
