Merriwa Businesses Conduct Local ResearchLast modified: April 24, 2009 - 4:20 PM
Recommendations to carry out customer based research have been taken on board by businesses in Merriwa. In late 2007 marketing consultant, Linda Hailey, presented Merriwa businesses with a finalised “Township Marketing Plan” which outlined the need to conduct local research. Upper Hunter Shire Council was then successful in receiving funds and support from Department of State and Regional Development for the business research project under the Community Economic Development Program. There are twenty two (22) main street businesses participating in postcode research, which commenced on Wednesday 22 April and will run through until Tuesday 5 May. These businesses will be recording the postcode and spend of each customer over that 14 day period. This will allow the businesses to get a good snapshot of where their customers are located, including what percentage are locally based as well as the various postcode localities and spend of those visiting from outside the area. Tess Hynes, Merriwa Growth Strategy Project Coordinator, has been pleased with the response to the project, “It was satisfying to see so many of the main street businesses come on board for the project. The data collected should provide the businesses with real information that can assist with individual marketing and promotion as well as promotion on a town level” Street surveying has also been carried out in Merriwa as a part of the project, this research occurred on 24 April. The results from the research will be put together in a report which will be provided to the participating businesses for analysis and future planning. Contact details |
