Scone's First Second Hand Sunday
Last modified: June 24, 2009 - 11:53 AM
Are you hoarding items you no longer want? Dispose of them responsibly at the Scone Visitor Information and Wine Centre's Second Hand Sunday.
The first of the Second Hand Sunday events for 2009 will be held at the back of Elizabeth Park on Sunday July 5th. The event will run from 9am until 1pm, everyone is welcome to come along and seek out a pre-loved bargain.
The Second Hand Sunday car boot sale is an opportunity for local residents to sell, exchange or give away items that may otherwise end up as landfill.
Participants are asked to register with the Scone Visitor Information & Wine Centre (6545 1526) prior to the event preferably between 24th June and 3rd July 2009. The cost of a ‘space' for the day is $15.00 per booking. Spaces will be limited, so register today!
On the day participants are encouraged to have a ‘free' section at their stall to help attract people. If stallholders haven't sold all of their goods by about 12 pm, they should give items away for free or take the remaining items to a local charity store. It is better for the items to go to a new home at no cost, than go to landfill at a great environmental cost.
Second Hand Sunday will be held in conjunction to the local kerbside collection being conducted from Monday July 6 to Friday July 10, this will allow residents to unload unsold goods (subject to terms and conditions of Council) on the kerb outside their homes on the afternoon of the 5th July in readiness for the bulk kerbside collection in the following week. This will also give residents an opportunity to minimise the amount of items they send to landfill.
Should the event be a success for the residents of Scone, Second Hand Sunday will be then be organised in Merriwa and Murrurundi.
Residents interested in registering need to contact the Scone Visitor Information & Wine Centre by phoning (02) 6545 1526 or emailing sconevic@upperhunter.nsw.gov.au by 3rd July 2009.
