Grant Workshop

A grant workshop will be held at the Upper Hunter Shire Council's Scone office on July 30 at 7.30pm and representatives of sporting groups are urged to attend.
Upper Hunter Shire Council's community grants officer Amelia Hohnen said the guest speaker at the workshop will be Peter Britt from NSW Department of Sport and Recreation. "He will be providing a presentation and discussing the upcoming opportunities with the department," Ms Hohnen said."Council's sports participation officer Nicky Western will also be speaking at the workshop," she added.
The workshop is free but RSVP is required to Ms Hohnen. Phone 6540 1119 or email ahohnen@upperhunter.nsw.gov.au.
Ms Hohnen said Upper Hunter sporting groups had achieved considerable success in recent times with NSW Department of Sport and Recreation Capital Assistance Funding.
Scone High School P & C achieved $1740 for a cricket practice facility, Council received $15,313 for Merriwa Fitness Centre and the Aberdeen Bushman's Campdrafting and Roughrider Association received $3750 for a washbay at St Andrew's Reserve.
Ms Hohnen said other recent successes for the Shire included $9000 for long jump facilities for Scone Athletics Club, $1000 for Scone Cricket, $1000 for Scone Touch Football, and $1000 for Scone Junior Soccer."The workshop is aimed at sporting groups within the Shire and anyone else who may wear another hat within the community but are involved in their children's sports and have an interest in building resources - anyone who thinks they could benefit is welcome to attend," Ms Hohnen said.
