Following Development Consent for the proposed extension to the Scone Medical Centre and the announcement of grant funding from the Federal Government's National Rural and Remote Health Infrastructure Program the Upper Hunter Shire Council is now calling for tenders for the construction of the extensions.
Business Development Officer Mr Sean Constable said "the tender process will be used to identify a suitably resourced company to take Council's design plans and make them a reality."
Mr Constable added "the extensions will provide rooms for Hunter Imaging Group to house a CT Scanner and Ultrasound services. There will also be 5 new consulting rooms for GPs and other allied health services." "Hunter Imaging Group is keen to expand its service to the Upper Hunter Shire and the scanner is already purchased and awaiting its new home in Scone" he said.
Upper Hunter Shire Council leases the Scone Medical Centre to the Scone Medical Practice, who then sub-let to medical services such as the Hunter Imaging Group, Pathology and other allied health services.
The design is consistent with the existing building in both construction materials and look to create a seamless addition. Local firms are encouraged to submit tenders. "It would be great to have local builders involved in this project and Council endorses tenders from our local trades people" Mr Constable said.
Tenders close on Monday 31 August. Tender documents are available at Council offices or from its website.
