Upper Hunter Shire's Mayor, Michael Johnsen said a Government Access Centre opened for business in the council office in Vennacher St on Monday 3 August.

"This one-stop shop provides convenient, face-to-face assistance to people for a variety of government services," Mayor Michael Johnsen said.

"Residents are able to access services from government agencies such as the Recreational Fisheries unit of DPI, NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, the Parks and Wildlife Group in DECC, NSW Maritime, Office of Fair Trading and Housing NSW."

"Services that are available at the council office include fishing licences, purchase of annual passes for entry into national parks, business name registrations and renewal of building contractor licences, birth, death and marriage certificates, applications for rental bond assistance, boat licence knowledge tests, renewal of boat licences and registration and applications for NSW Seniors Cards."

"These services are in addition to the RTA online and the Centrelink facilities that have been introduced by the Upper Hunter Shire Council in recent years" Mayor Michael Johnsen said.
