The Hunter Regional Tourist Organisation recently held its annual Tourism Awards at Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley. The theme for the evening was ‘Diamonds in the Hunter'.
This year two Upper Hunter Shire tourism operators entered the awards with very pleasing results for both.
The Upper Hunter Shire has a diamond in the Scone Motor Inn who took out the Standard Accommodation section of the Awards with owners Jo-anne and Trevor Kratzman delighted that their hard work and many hours of refurbishment enabled them to take out this award. Mayor Michael Johnsen said that "Scone Motor Inn will benefit greatly from this prestigious award by way off consumer recognition of the property throughout the Hunter. Their achievements since purchasing the motel two and a half years ago are something to be extremely proud of. As a community we wish them well in the Tourism NSW awards to be held shortly in Sydney."
Segenhoe Inn in Aberdeen also received a distinction in the category of Hosted Accommodation on the night. Owner Cherie Donovan was thrilled to be a part of the Awards and be recognised as a finalist.
Daryl Dutton, General Manager Upper Hunter Shire said "Operator participation in awards such as these is likely to assist these properties build on visitor numbers and business strength whilst also benefiting the community by reinforcing the Upper Hunter as a destination of choice."
