Local Environment Plan Project
In December 2005 the Upper Hunter Shire Council commenced work on the development of a Shire-wide Strategy that will inform the development of a new Local Environment Plan (LEP). This will replace the three seperate LEPs that currently exist for Scone, Merriwa and Murrurundi. Throughout this process Council will be consulting with a range of stakeholders (including the local community, state government agencies, environmental, industrial, recreational, commerical and residential interests). This page is designed to keep the stakeholders and the community informed about issues and event related to this project. Situation Analysis - Published: 09 Nov 2006The Situation Analysis provides a compilation of information that is relevant to the Upper Hunter Shire. Local Environment Plan Community Advisory Committee - Published: 23 Nov 2006 The Local Environment Plan Community Advisory Committee (LEPCAC) has been formed to provide input into the development of the Land Use Strategy. It consist of council representatives and community participants. more .. Land Use Strategy - Published: 23 Oct 2008 The Upper Hunter Land Use Strategy outlines key land use policies and principles for the Upper Hunter Local Government Area (LGA), and provides the planning context for the preparation of local environmental plan (LEP) provisions. The strategy has a timeframe of approximately 25 years, to 2032.
The Strategy identifies where growth and change are expected to occur, and land use planning objectives and strategies to guide this growth and change. The main areas of focus include: urban settlement, village and residential development, rural areas and environmental values and constraints. It also identifies infrastructure requirements to support future development, and will help inform local and state government budget processes. more ..
